South Korean boyband BIGFLO made their first appearance in Hong Kong the past weekend as judges for the 2017 K-POP COVER DANCE FESTIVAL. Radio DJ Barry Ip was also one of the judges and the event is into it's 5th year. The official venue, Plaza Hollywood mall in Hong Kong, was flooded with supporters and fans on that day while the quintet from HO Company kicked off their performance.

The winning group of this year's content, Friends Junction Boys, will be representing Hong Kong for the finals of the K-POP Cover Dance Festival  that will be held in South Korea next month. The group emerged as the representative team with their dance renditions of GOT7's Never Ever, Hard Carry, and BTS's Not Today and Blood Sweat Tears. Friends Junction Boys will be sponsored with flight tickets and accommodation to go to Korea for the finals. Judge Barry Ip who had been doing the contest evaluations consecutively for a few years highlighted that the contestants this year are of high standards and acknowledges their efforts and talent. Being a HIP HOP dancer in his earlier years, Barry encouraged the younger generation to take up dancing as a sport  and he hopes to see more K-POP dance lovers to come forward next year to compete for the exclusive spot to represent Hong Kong. 

It was BIGFLO's first time in Hong Kong and they brought to the stage 2 songs from their HIPHOP album STARDOM. Their good looks, high energy dance and addictive HIPHOP tunes of Stardom and Deliah drove the crowd wild!

BIGFLO mentioned that they felt thankful to the fans who came to the airport when they arrived in Hong Kong and they would like to try the famous Dim Sum in Hong Kong. Member Sung Min said that he would like to see the beautiful Hong Kong night view if he had the chance to. When being asked if they knew of any Hong Kong artist, Ron spoke of Super Girls as he heard that they were a famous group in the country. Super Girls (also known as Icon Girls), is a Hong Kong Cantopop Girl Group formed by Stars Shine International record label.

​Since their debut in 2014, BIGFLO has undergone many challenges but their passion for performing on stage did not dissipate. Their re-group at the start of this year, BIGFLO moves on strongly with 5 members, having participated in many promotional events as well as planned future attendance at 2017 Dream Concert alongside popular groups such as EXO, VIXX and NCT127. BIGFLO will also going on a concert tour in America soon.

KCON 2017 Mexico celebrated its inaugural festival with 33,000 fans coming together for two days to immerse themselves in all things Hallyu at the largest Korean culture convention in the world. Taking place March 17-18 – the first KCON in Latin America – featured musical performances from K-Pop’s biggest stars, including Astro, BTS, Eric Nam, EXID, Infinite H, Monsta X, NCT 127, Red Velvet; specialty programming, including an influencer-led dance workshop; and dozens of vendors that represented some of the best and most sought-after Korean products and food.


"Every time we expand into a new country, the passion of the fans is beyond what we could have imagined. The reaction in Mexico was amazing and we expect a similar enthusiasm in Australia when we expand into Oceania later this year,” said HK Shin, President of CJ E&M Music Division. “KCON has started off 2017 extremely strong and we are excited to make this year the biggest and best year ever for our festival.”


KCON 2017 Mexico was also live streamed through KCON.TV – a short form video platform and online community dedicated to all things Korean entertainment. The live stream reached more than 200,000 viewers from both North and South America with over 30,000 concurrent viewers during the two-day event, providing the heat for K-POP outside of the arena in Latin America.


Specialty programming ranged from influencer-led experiences to those examining the unprecedented spread of Hallyu. Influencers included vlogger Latina Saram; Jun Sung Ahn, who created original content specifically for KCON LA; popular K-Pop reaction YouTubers JRE and KenroVlogs, who brought guests from the US to teach a dance workshop. Other special programs included “The Phenomenal Growth of International Entertainment,” which explored both the growth of individual stars and the explosive spread of Hallyu in the LATAM market.


“While many people think of just K-Pop but there is a whole lot more to Korean culture and it’s incredible!,” said KenroVlog, a Peruvian Youtube celebrity who is a big fan of K-Pop. “This was my first time and it certainly blew my mind along with thousands of Mexican fans.”


Thousands of fans from around the world submitted fan arts to share love and support for their favorite KCON 2017 Mexico artists through Mwave Fan Art Contest. The final round of voting for the Best Fan Art Drawing will begin on March 16 and end on March 20. Fans can vote and view all of the artwork onMwave, CJ Digital Music’s global platform dedicated to K-Pop.


The selection of vendor booths represented the best of Korean beauty, grocery products, K-Pop goods, and other accessories. Booths included the most popular Korean cosmetic retailers and brands such as CJ IMC and Tony Molly; K-Pop merchandise; and various Korean food choices such as Topokki, stir-fried soft rice cake, and Mandu, Korean dumpling.

June 16, 2015 – Tiger Fate and the Korean Association of Myanmar successfully hosted one of their largest K-Pop events of the year.  This event was held to support underprivileged children in the country and also to celebrate the 40th year of the strong diplomatic relations between South Korea and Myanmar.

The fans were all hyped when these five groups hit the shores of Yangon, Myanmar. Bangtan Boys, Ailee N-Sonic, A.Kor and Halo were invited to celebrate this honorable event.

The fans in Myanmar were ecstatic to see their favorite idols perform on stage. The night was filled with rocking music and the chorus of fans singing along to familiar tunes.  Representatives of Tiger Fate and the Korean Association of Myanmar opened the stage with speeches on the event.

The groups performed a total of 24 songs and the whole event lasted for about 2 hours.

The final stage of the event had the fans go into a screaming frenzy. Bangtan Boys had graced the stage with 6 songs - <<No More Dream>>, <<We are Bulletproof pt.>>,  <<상남자>>, <<좋아요>>, <<호르몬전쟁>> and <<I NEED U>>.

The encore stage was another two more songs by BTS - <<Danger>> and <<진격의방탄>>.

The night ended with a bang and fans left satisfied after watching their favourite K-Pop Idols performed for a whole two hours.

South Korean Seven Member Hip-Hop group BTS is birthed by Big Hit Entertainment, the company which manages other renowned names such as GLAM and 2AM. The Bangtan Boys (RR: Bangtan Sonyeondan) translated as: Bulletproof Boy Scouts, also known as BTS, debuted on June 13, 2013 with their first title song No More Dream followed by We Are Bulletproof Pt.II.
